Participants will have a scheduled time to leave the base camp, either with power support or on a bike.
Riders will be responsible for managing their time each morning. They will have a curfew for breakfast. They will have to compulsorily leave their travel bags inside their tent, which should be closed, and they will also have to drop by the race office to pick up their food and update the time chip before they start.
Time for breakfast, start, chip update, etc. will be notified during the briefing that will take place at 8:00 pm every day at the base camp.
During the race, riders will enjoy a transfer service, and an area with food and drinks and mechanical service.
Each stage ends at the campsite, where riders will find their tent mounted and enjoy a warm shower before they attend the briefing, at 8:00 pm, and have dinner, at 8:30 pm.
Trans-Nomad 2018 will have the highest positive and negative slopes of all editions. Riders must be fit and used to high-mountain weather to confront long riding, bike portages, and descents.
Every day there will be a shuttle service or mechanical transfer, usually the first link of the day. Those can be between 45 minutes and 1 h and 30 minutes long (just 1).
Each day of competition will have an average of 4 special stages, between 40 and 60 km, and an average altitude about 1,800m of positive and negative slope (even more). We estimate an average of 6-7 hours per day race, including links between and special stages.
We will have to make several portages with bike with an average duration of between ½hora and 1 ½ hours.
The special stages require driving conditions advanced technical level as well as a good general fitness. We also consider important the spirit of adventure, exploration and improvement.
All you need is the urge for adventure and fun. In spite of the competitive format of the event, the most important thing is ending the adventure without falls and mechanical breakdowns that force you to abandon the race.
